We’ve partnered with a new Credit Union!

Supporting the financial wellbeing of our colleagues is an important part of our commitment to making our Trust a great place to work. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with Serve and Protect Credit Union.

Serve and Protect offer an ethical and affordable way to save regularly, access responsible loans and receive financial support when it’s needed most.

They have a raft of financial wellbeing support available including free financial wellbeing webinars which you can join.

What does this mean for existing members of the NE First/ Northumberland Community Bank?

If you currently have a loan with our previous Credit Union provider, NE First/Northumberland Community Bank, you don’t need to do anything. Your existing loan agreement will continue as normal and will remain with the previous provider until it reaches the end of its agreed term. Your repayments and the terms of your loan won’t change.

If you have savings with NE First/Northumberland Community Bank and would like to move to Serve and Protect Credit Union, this will need to be arranged directly by you. The Trust will not be involved in transferring any funds between providers.

If you have a loan with NE First and make savings contributions alongside your loan repayments, these arrangements will continue under your existing agreement. Once your loan has been repaid, if you no longer wish to continue your savings contributions, you will need to contact NE First directly to amend or stop these payments.

Likewise, if you currently have savings held with NE First and wish to withdraw your savings or close your account, you can contact them in the usual way to arrange this. If you would then like to open a savings account with Serve and Protect Credit Union, you can do so directly with them.
