A note on language: While we predominantly talk about ‘women’ in relation to the menopause, we also recognise and appreciate that the menopause can impact trans and non-binary people who don’t identify as women in the same manner. Although unusual, menopause can still be experienced by a few trans masculine and non-binary identified people whose female characteristics may persist at this stage of their lives. They require the same support and flexibility in the workplace as others with similar symptoms (Source: CIPD – A Guide to Managing Menopause at Work, May 2021). The Trust acknowledges the menopause can also affect and impact our trans and non-binary colleagues, and this toolkit is there to support them through their menopause journey.
