Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) has received a £154,000 grant from NHS Charities Together to enhance services in our area.
This grant, part of the £162 million raised through the COVID-19 Urgent Appeal, will support eight projects focused on the long-term recovery of patients and staff affected by COVID-19.
The funding will benefit CNTW’s Children and Young People’s Services, adult autism inpatient services, bereavement support for staff, and assistance for the carers of children and young people.
The projects, starting in November 2023 and lasting two years, include improving sensory rooms, providing gardening equipment, enhancing dining areas, and employing sessional workers for community engagement and educational support.
Ellie Orton OBE, Chief Executive of NHS Charities Together, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting children, young people, families, carers and staff accessing mental health, learning disabilities and neuro-rehabilitation services in the North East and North Cumbria through this funding. We hope this extra support we will make a real difference to them and ease some of the pressures these NHS services are under as a result of the pandemic.”
