We are pleased to announce the launch of our brand-new dedicated Menopause Support Service and helpline. The service launches today, 1 May and is funded through NHS Charities Together.
CNTW staff can call 03300 577043 for confidential support 24/7, every day of the year.
Menopause is a natural life stage that usually impacts women between the ages of 45-55, but it can also affect men, relationships, and workplaces.
Contact the helpline, and specialist advisors will help you to access the right support. This might be in-the-moment support, or a one-off assessment with a specialist menopause counsellor who can advise on a range of things, including:
- Creating a safe space for sharing personal experiences and management of menopause
- Promoting menopause education
- Identifying and explore the 4 stages of menopause
- Understanding the causes of menopause and influential factors
- Identifying common physical, emotional, and psychological symptoms of menopause
- Exploring Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and alternative / complimentary treatment options and therapies
- Promoting understanding around the impact of menopause on personal and professional relationships
- Gaining an understanding of supportive wellbeing tools
- Understanding the impact of menopause in the workplace
NHS Charities Together is the national charity caring for the NHS. It offers grants to provide vital help to patients, staff and volunteers, enabling the NHS to do more.
Other menopause support at CNTW
The Menopause Toolbox on the staff intranet has been designed to support staff who are experiencing or are affected by perimenopause or menopause symptoms. It is also to help managers understand how the menopause can impact staff in the workplace.
The Trust also hosts a Menopause Café every month which allows colleagues to express their views and experiences safely. The Café meets simply as people who are interested in the menopause, either on a personal or supportive level. All colleagues are welcome, regardless of age or gender. You can find upcoming menopause cafe dates in the events section of the intranet or email healthandwellbeing@cntw.nhs.uk for further information.
Other wellbeing and mental health support
This new helpline is run in collaboration with our Employee Assistance provider, Vivup. Vivup also offers other useful resources around mental health, including our general Employee Assistance helpline (0800 023 9324) which offers 24/7 access to fully qualified counsellors and support specialists should you or a colleague need mental health support.
