The Gateshead Early Intervention in Psychosis team completed their hike of Scafell Pike over the weekend. The team took on the challenge of hiking up England’s tallest mountain to raise money for the Trust’s SHINE fund.
SHINE recently funded the Voyage to Recovery, a project where young people recovering from psychosis crewed a sailing boat. The project, a form of adventure therapy run in partnership with Cirdan Sailing Trust, aims to support recovery by providing an alternative environment for people to learn new skills, grow in confidence and build relationships. The voyage had an incredible impact on the young people, and staff in the service wanted to raise funds for SHINE so that the fund can continue to support meaningful projects such as this in the future.

Earlier this year, 6 teams from Cumbria walked the length of Hadrian’s Wall from Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway, raising £3,883.42 for SHINE. Colleagues really enjoyed the experience, reflecting on the camaraderie and new friendships developed, and are keen to organise the next fundraiser.
