Freedom to Speak Up – Confidential support for staff to speak up

From 1 October 2026, our Freedom to Speak Up service will be provided by an independent external organisation called The Guardian Service. This change follows a review of our current arrangements and is intended to help make sure everyone feels safe, supported and listened to when raising concerns.

We all have times when something does not feel right at work. You may be worried about patient care, safety, quality, staff wellbeing, systems or processes, or another issue affecting our services. The Freedom to Speak Up service provides a confidential space where you can discuss concerns and access advice and support.

Meet your Guardian

Our dedicated Guardian is Robyn Ventress-Farnaby, who works for The Guardian Service and is independent of the Trust.

To mark the launch of the new service, Robyn will spend her first day visiting some of our sites, meeting people and finding out more about the Trust.

If you would like to raise a concern, seek advice or talk something through, you can contact Robyn by:

Telephone: 0333 733 8955

Email: contact@theguardianservice.co.uk

The service is confidential, independent and available to support colleagues who may feel unable to raise an issue through other routes or who would like impartial advice and guidance.

More information about Freedom to Speak Up and how the service works is available on the Freedom to Speak Up page on the intranet.
