Wellbeing Conversation

What is a wellbeing conversation?

The NHS People Plan has recommended Health and Wellbeing Conversations for all NHS staff. The aim is to offer everyone dedicated time for a confidential, supportive discussion with your line manager at least once a year. The discussion will cover themes around how you can manage your wellbeing in and out of work. This is also an opportunity to talk about any support you might need.

Watch this this short video from NHS England and NHS Improvement which explains what these conversations are, and why they’re important:

How will I be supported to carry out these conversations?

A helpful health and wellbeing conversation template can be found on the staff intranet in the Staff Health and Wellbeing Hub. This template has been developed to help guide discussions around the six different aspects of health and wellbeing.  It also includes a guide for managers and employees on how to conduct the wellbeing conversation, as well as some useful links for further support.

Further information will be detailed in the sickness and appraisal policy training, Collective Leadership Programme and in the new starter induction and local induction.
